What is E-Stamp Paper?
E-Stamp paper is a computer-generated certificate issued by SHCIL (Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited) as an alternative to traditional physical stamp paper. It is the only legally valid method to pay stamp duty in Delhi for property registration and legal documents.
Physical stamp paper is NO LONGER VALID for property registration in Delhi. Only e-stamp certificates from authorized SHCIL centres are accepted at SROs. Any deed on physical stamp paper will be rejected.

How to Verify E-Stamp Paper
You can verify the authenticity of an e-stamp certificate online:
- Go to www.shcilestamp.com and click on "Verify e-Stamp"
- Enter the Certificate Number (printed on the e-stamp)
- Enter the Stamp Duty Amount
- Click Verify - the system will confirm if the certificate is genuine and show its current status (Used/Unused)
Always verify before accepting: Fraudulent e-stamps exist. If buying property, insist on verifying the seller's stamp paper online before signing. A fake e-stamp makes the entire deed invalid.
